The Best Wine Bars in Ubud – a wine lover’s guide

Ubud’s dining scene has evolved rapidly over the past few years, and with it, so has its approach to wine. Once limited to short hotel lists and a handful of imported bottles, Ubud today offers a growing number of venues that take wine seriously — whether through thoughtful by-the-glass programs, natural wine selections, or pairing-driven menus.

This guide looks beyond the idea of a “classic wine bar” and highlights places in Ubud where wine is curated with intent. Some are dedicated wine and tapas bars, while others are restaurants with wine programs strong enough to deserve a shout in their own right.

As always, the list is not ranked but reflects different ways wine can be experienced in Ubud. Alongside our earlier feature on the best bars in Ubud, this is the only list you need when searching for the best wines bars in Ubud.

What Makes a Great Wine Bar in Ubud

A great wine destination in Ubud isn’t defined by size or price point. Instead, the strongest venues tend to share a few core qualities:

  • A curated selection that prioritises quality over volume
  • Wines available by the glass or in flexible formats
  • Food designed to complement wine, not compete with it
  • A setting that encourages conversation and unhurried pacing and removes the stiffness from the old school sommelier driven wine destinations.

In 2026, wine exploration is all about relaxed and non-pretentious  interactions with one of the most wonderful expressions of a grape. With that in mind, here are some of the most noteworthy places to drink wine in Ubud today.

Best Wine Bars in Ubud

Bacari – 20 wines by the glass!

Why do we love it?

Not only is Bacari Ubud’s first wine & tapas bar, it also happens to serve the longest wine by the glass list in the town. We are talking 20 pours using the state of the art Coravin that prevents opening the bottle and keeping the wine’s integrity intact. The casual yet chic setting with a non pretentious vibe embodies Bacari’s belief in exploring wine in a relaxed setting. The wine book is extensive with detailed information on all the wines (often with wit and tongue in cheek recommendations). Guests here are encouraged to pick the different wines by the glass as opposed to the usual practice of selling by the bottle. Pair this with a delicious tapas menu while sitting and people watching and you are in for a treat during your stay in Ubud.

What to order?

Plenty of international wines to choose from depending on your preference but it’s their tapas menu that we highly recommend trying – the pan grilled halloumi, the chicken ‘kaali mirch’ skewers and the burrata sourdough are the standouts. And if wine is not what you are feeling that day, the cocktail list is impressive with a focus on using premium  spirits for their classics and modern classics.

Average Spend per person per glass: From IDR 125.000 ++

Location: Jl. Goutama No.15, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571

Ideal spot for people watching with a drink b y your side.

Belle – wine & grazing boards.

Why do we love it?

Belle Wine Bar offers a relaxed introduction to wine drinking in Ubud. With a focus on approachable styles and grazing boards, it appeals to guests looking for an easygoing early-evening stop.

The wine list leans toward drinkable, familiar profiles rather than deep exploration, making it well-suited for those who want a glass or two without formality. Its comfortable atmosphere and simple food pairing options make it a dependable choice for casual wine moments.

What to Order?

Our favourite is the Whispering Angel Rosé but we don’t mind if you are a little more adventurous and want to try some from the local wineries. And no matter what glass / bottle you choose, we highly suggest trying one of their thoughtfully curated grazing boards.

Average Spend per person per glass: From IDR 125.000 ++

Location: Jl. Monkey Forest, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571

Wine and cheese? Belle i s the place to visit.

Aperitif – Fine dining with a wine cellar for the ages.

Why do we love it?

Aperitif approaches wine through the lens of fine dining. While not a wine bar in the traditional sense, its wine cellar and pairing program are among the most developed in Ubud. The wine experience here is closely tied to its tasting menus, with thoughtful pairings designed to enhance each course. For wine lovers interested in structured dining and cellar depth rather than casual pours, Aperitif represents the more formal end of Ubud’s wine spectrum.

What to Order?

The wine pairing goes best with the degustation menu and their sommeliers curate the perfect list based on the menu. But if you know what you are after then the 17 wines by the glass will give you plenty of options to choose from.

Average Spend per person per glass: From IDR 180.000 ++

Location: Br. Nagi, Jl. Lanyahan, Petulu, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571

We strongly suggest going for their wine pairing with their tasting menu.

2 Bulan – Thai & somewhat Thai

Why do we love it?

2 Bulan is a Thai restaurant that has quietly built a distinctive wine list, with a particular emphasis on natural and lower-intervention wines. The selection is smaller but deliberate, favouring crisp whites, lighter reds, and wines that pair well with spice and acidity. Rather than positioning itself as a wine bar, 2 Bulan stands out for how confidently its wine program supports the food. It’s a compelling option for diners interested in exploring less conventional wine styles alongside dishes that makes it one of the best Thai restaurants in Bali.

What to order?

We recommend trying their Skin Contact and Pet Nats with their Thai curries and noodles. For a more familiar pour, we suggest the gamay noir with any of their grilled appetisers.

Average Spend per person per glass: From IDR 125.000 ++

Location: Jl. Nyuh Bulan, Mas, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571

Natural Wines & Thai inspired cocktails – one of the best Thai restaurants in Ubud.

Galle Club – Sri Lankan & Coastal Indian

Why do we love it?

Galle Club combines Sri Lankan and South Indian cuisine with a wine program that is a surprising revelation for those who are trying this cuisine with wine for the first time. With a solid selection of wines available by the glass, including Coravin-served options, it allows guests to pair wine thoughtfully with dishes that are often overlooked in wine conversations. Alongside a signature cocktail menu, the care taken in curating the list makes Galle Club a notable stop for those interested in pairing wine with bold, spiced flavours in a relaxed setting.

What to order?

Start with a crisp glass of Cortese or a bottle of Chablis with the appetisers before diving into the mains that pair best with bold , fruity reds. There are 4 red wines by the glass to choose from and all reds on the menu are also served via carafe.

Average Spend per person per glass: From IDR 125.000 ++

Location: Jl. Nyuh Gading No.2, Mas, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571

Highly recommend sipping your wines b y their outdoor seating to soak up the Ubud mood.

Room 4 Dessert – the best for wine degustation

Why do we love it?

Room 4 Dessert is best known for its tasting menus, but its wine program deserves mention for wine lovers interested in natural and exploratory styles. The wine list changes frequently and is closely integrated into the dining experience.

Here, wine functions as part of a broader creative narrative, appealing to guests who enjoy discovery and are open to less traditional pairings. It’s a destination for those who see wine as an extension of culinary expression rather than a standalone focus.

What to order?

Natural Wines are the favourites here. If you can, go for all five pours by the glass. Our favourite from the recent visit was a Spanish blend for Reds, a South African orange / skin contact and any house white they have on offer.

Average Spend per person per glass: From IDR 170.000 ++

Location: Jl. Raya Sanggingan, Kedewatan, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80561

Trust the recommendations from their sommelier for your wine cravings at Room 4 Dessert.
