Finding the best coffee shop is the first thing I google when I am travelling. A good quality flat white and an afternoon cold brew are non-negotiables for me no matter where I am.
For all you coffee snobs (I mean lovers), we have compiled our list of the best coffee shops in Ubud. The four listed here are unique in their experiences and you will not be disappointed no matter which one you visit. As always, the list is alphabetical and not ranked. Plus a bonus mention of a Sri Lankan and Indian in Ubud restaurant that serves a very unique style of coffee. This list along with our best cafes in Ubud list is the only guide you need for your daily pick me ups.
Ame Bistro – ideal for co-working.
Why do we love it?
You might have put this french inspired bistro as your next restaurant for lunch but Ame’s specialty is serving a range of incredible single origin coffees. A glass wall brings plenty of sun and air conditioning makes it ideal for co-working (they have limited laptop assigned seats). The place is located close to Sayan so is not far from some of the best resorts in Ubud.
What to order?
The V60 serves a rotating list of single origin coffee beans from Latin America and Indonesia and is a must try regardless of your love for filter coffees. My personal favourite is the Brazilian or Ethiopian Batch Brew.

Ame also serves a French bistro style lunch menu.
Location: Jl. Raya Sanggingan No.87X, Kedewatan, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571
Open: 8am – 7pm
Neuf Day – for the cool urban vibe
Why do we love it?
Only in Neuf, can you be in Bali but also feel like you just stepped into a slow coffee bar in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. The warehouse rustic look and a couple of tables thrown here and there sets the tone from the start that this is not a place for a quick in and out cup of coffee. The baristas take their time in preparing the drinks but do not mistake this for laziness or slow service. There is a dedication and almost a meditative feel to watching these guys sling some very cool espresso or manual brews. And if you are impatient, then step outside and grab a dumpling from Double Dragon Temple to keep you busy.
What to order?
The V60 from either of their bean selection is a must try.

Neuf has an impressive range of international & local beans.
Location: Jl. Monkey Forest, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571
Open: everyday 8am – 8pm
Ruster – coffee shop with the best views!
Why do we love it?
You might know Ruster for their french restaurant or their irresistible bakery or their concept store. But don’t forget that they first opened as a coffee shop and paved the way for the Specialty Coffee movement in Ubud. In fact, the quality on offer at Ruster was the inspiration behind us spinning our own coffee shop out of Bacari. Get in early, find one of the seats on the deck, and enjoy the sun warming up the never ending string of rice fields.
What to Order?
Stick to the basics at Ruster. It’s all about using quality single origin coffee beans and the best way to enjoy them is via a cappuccino or a classic espresso. My personal favourite is a Sumatran Filter Coffee or a Brazilian Americano.

Ruster’s bakery selection is one of the best in Bali.
Location: Jl. Raya Kengetan No.44, Singapadu Kaler, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571
Open: everyday 8 am – 7pm
Tucky – for specialty coffee lovers!
Why do we love it?
This small 20 seater in the middle of the town has everything going for it! Quirky art from local artists; single estate coffee beans from Brazil; a brunch menu that’s packed with bold flavors and seats that make it perfect for sipping a coffee while people watching. The obsession with aesthetics and specialty coffee is evident as soon as you order your first cup (each of their espresso drinks have their own unique cup for serving). And if you drop by post 4pm, don’t be surprised to see this place turn into one of the best bars in town – Bacari.
What to order?
The double shot Flat White and the Matcha Latte. And for the more adventurous, the signature Salted Caramel Brew. My personal favourite is their Single Origin Cold Brew. And if you drink as much coffee as I do, go for the Cold Brew by Bottle which is served in recycled Wine bottles.

The brunch menu at Tucky makes it one of the best cafes in Ubud.
Location: Jl. Goutama Sel. No.15, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571
Open: daily 9 am – 4pm (Tucky) & 4pm – 11pm (Bacari)
Galle Club – Filter Coffee from a bygone era.
Why do I love it?
Why do we love it? You might be wondering why one of the best restaurants in Ubud that serves Sri Lankan cuisine is featured in a list for best coffee shops in Ubud. But Galle Club deserves a special mention for their Madras Filter Coffee. Inspired by the coffee houses of a bygone era, these guys use single origin beans from Bali and serve them just how it is consumed in Sri Lanka and South India – bold, hot and ideal for bringing you back to life from a food coma. Visit Galle Club for lunch and they will serve you this unique coffee complimentary.
What to order?
The obvious choice is the Madras Filter Coffee along with their incredible lunch menu.

The coffee is served complimentary with a lunch dish.
Location: Jl. Nyuh Gading No.2, Mas, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571
Open: daily 12pm – 1030pm
